Savoury Cheese Cannoli with Ham

  • 1 min read

This started as a “what if…” and turned into a crunchy, savoury cannoli with no dough involved. Instead, the shell is made entirely from cheese, and honestly, it changes everything.

These savoury cheese cannoli, filled with ham, are crispy on the outside, creamy in the middle, and packed with flavour. Perfect for entertaining, a quick dinner snack, or when you want something different that still feels a little special.

🛒 INGREDIENTS:

For the cheese cannoli shells:

  • Slices of melting cheese (Edam or aged cheddar both work beautifully)

For the filling:

  • Fresh ricotta

  • D'Orsogna shredded ham

  • Capers

  • Chives

  • Finely grated Parmesan

👩‍🍳 STEP BY STEP:

  1. Melt the cheese: Place a slice of cheese straight into a hot non-stick pan. Let it melt and gently colour. Don’t rush it so it stays flexible.

  2. Shape the cannoli: While golden, lift the cheese and wrap it around a cannoli tube. Hold briefly, then let it cool until crisp.

  3. Make the filling: Mix ricotta with finely chopped, shredded ham until well combined.

  4. Fill to serve: Fill the cheese shells just before serving so they stay crunchy.

  5. Finish it off: Add capers on one end, chives on the other, and finish with a generous shower of Parmesan.

Crunchy, salty, creamy. Zero dough.
