Hot Honey Glazed Christmas Ham

It is the classic centrepiece of every Aussie Christmas, and it is easier to make than you think. The result is absolutely hamazing. Glossy, golden and carrying that festive aroma that pulls everyone into the kitchen for a little sneak peek at what you are cooking. Impress your guests, no stress!




šŸ›’ INGREDIENTS:


  • 1 @dorsognasmallgoods leg of ham

  • Whole cloves

  • 1 cup hot honey

  • ½ cup smoked honey

  • ½ cup brown sugar

  • 2 tbsp mustard

  • A drizzle of maple syrup



šŸ‘©ā€šŸ³ STEP BY STEP:


  1. Gently remove the skin and score the fat in a diamond pattern for that classic Christmas look.


  2. Press a clove into each corner of the diamonds for a rich aroma and flavour.


  3. Roast at 160°C for 30 minutes.


  4. Make the glaze by combining hot honey, smoked honey, brown sugar, mustard and maple syrup. Bring it just to the edge of a boil until thick and glossy.


  5. Brush the glaze over the ham and return it to the oven.


  6. Continue glazing every 20 minutes until the ham is deep golden, caramelised and reaches an internal temperature of 62°C.



A Christmas ham like this is sweet, smoky, nostalgic and unmistakably Australian. The classic that never fails and always turns out hamazing!
